Growing California’s Economy

California is the world’s 5th largest economy.  Creating good paying jobs and opportunities for all is Job #1 for California.  As Controller, Betty is doing her part to build a working economy that is based on equity, sustainability, and security. She knows we must foster an economy that supports entrepreneurship and small businesses.  Betty understands the strength of California’s economy lies in its diversity – the diversity of its people, industries, and geography.  As the state’s CFO, she is leading the charge to ensure our public education system including our community colleges and four-year universities meet the future demands of employers. Betty will invest in apprenticeship-modeled programs that will train and retrain Californians for good-paying jobs in the new and growing industries of our 21st-century economy.
